Enric Mas (Movistar) est le nouveau leader de la Vuelta 2026 après l’abandon de Tadej Pogacar. L’Espagnol devance Primož Roglič (Red Bull-Bora) de 1 minute et Felix Gall (Decathlon CMA CGM) de 1’11. Enric Mas, le nouveau patron
C’est la chance de sa vie. Enric Mas, trois fois deuxième de la Vuelta (2018, 2021, 2022), porte enfin le maillot rouge. L’Espagnol de Movistar, le seul à avoir suivi Tadej Pogacar dans les ascensions, est le nouveau leader.
Avec une minute d’avance sur Primož Roglič et 1’11 sur Felix Gall, Mas doit maintenant assumer. Son équipe, Movistar, devra contrôler la course face aux puissantes Decathlon CMA CGM et Red Bull-Bora.
« Une nouvelle course commence maintenant, et j’espère que nous serons prêts » a déclaré Mas. L’étape de l’Alto de Aitana sera son premier grand test.
Roglič et Gall, les challengers
Primož Roglič, quadruple vainqueur de la Vuelta, est le principal rival. Le Slovène de Red Bull-Bora, monte en puissance et rêve d’un cinquième sacre. À 1 minute, il est idéalement placé.
Felix Gall, le grimpeur autrichien de Decathlon CMA CGM, est l’homme en forme. À 1’11, il peut profiter de l’étape de l’Aitana pour prendre le pouvoir. Son équipe est la plus forte en montagne.
Le duel entre ces trois hommes promet d’être intense.
Les outsiders : Kuss, Onley, Carapaz, Skjelmose
Derrière le trio de tête, la bataille reste ouverte. Sepp Kuss, le vainqueur de la Vuelta 2023, est 4e à 2’15. L’Américain de Visma-Lease a Bike aime les longues ascensions.
Oscar Onley, le Britannique de Netcompany INEOS, est 5e à 2’16. Richard Carapaz, le guerrier équatorien est 6e à 2’22. Mattias Skjelmose est 7e à 3’25.
Tous peuvent viser le podium, voire mieux, dans une Vuelta totalement ouverte.

Les enjeux de la 9e étape
La 9e étape, entre La Vila Joiosa et l’Alto de Aitana, est le premier grand test de l’ère post-Pogacar. Avec 5 166 m de dénivelé et six ascensions, elle peut bouleverser le classement général.
Felix Gall voudra frapper. Enric Mas devra défendre. Primož Roglič devra rester vigilant. Et l’échappée pourrait aussi jouer sa chance.
