Pourquoi cette 3e étape est-elle la seule chance pour les sprinteurs ? 🚀

Un profil avec des difficultés en première partie, puis 60 km de plat

Le Tour de Suisse 2026 propose ce vendredi la seule étape véritablement favorable aux sprinteurs. La 3e étape autour de Bad Ragaz (157,9 km) présente un profil en deux parties distinctes : une première moitié difficile, avec la Schwägalp (4,1 km à 8,2 %) comme principal obstacle, et une seconde moitié totalement plate sur les 60 derniers kilomètres.

Dès le départ, le St. Luzisteig (2 km à 10,1 %) met les organismes en route. Le Wildhaus (8,9 km à 6,8 %) et la Schwägalp constituent les principales difficultés. Mais ces ascensions sont situées loin de l’arrivée, ce qui laisse le temps aux équipes de sprinteurs d’organiser la poursuite.

Après la descente vers Altstätten, le parcours devient entièrement plat jusqu’à Bad Ragaz. Le final n’est pas technique : il est légèrement en montée, ce qui pourrait avantager les sprinteurs puissants plutôt que les purs véloces.

La question est simple : les sprinteurs parviendront-ils à passer la Schwägalp sans encombre ? Si oui, un sprint massif est probable. Si non, une échappée pourrait créer la surprise.

Qui sont les favoris de cette 3e étape ? 🏆

Brennan, Groves, Dainese : les sprinteurs à l’affût

Matthew Brennan (Visma-Lease a Bike) est le grand favori de cette 3e étape. Le jeune Britannique (20 ans), révélation de la saison (5 victoires cette année), possède une pointe de vitesse redoutable et une capacité à passer les bosses qui en fait le sprinteur le plus complet du plateau.

Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Premier Tech) est son principal rival. L’Australien, qui n’a pas eu l’occasion de s’exprimer sur les deux premières étapes, voudra saisir cette opportunité. Son équipe Alpecin-Premier Tech, avec son train de lancement, est l’une des mieux armées.

Alberto Dainese (Soudal Quick-Step) peut tirer son épingle du jeu. L’Italien, spécialiste des sprints en faux-plat montant, est dans son élément sur ce type d’arrivée.

Corbin Strong (NSN Cycling Team), Luke Lamperti (EF Education-EasyPost), Fred Wright (Pinarello Q36.5) ou encore Casper van Uden (Team Picnic PostNL) sont d’autres candidats crédibles. Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Premier Tech) et Jhonatan Narvaez (UAE Team Emirates XRG) pourraient également tenter leur chance.

Que peut-on attendre de Tadej Pogacar sur cette étape ? 🦈

Une journée de gestion avant le chrono de samedi

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) a déjà course gagnée. Le Slovène compte 2’50 d’avance sur Richard Carapaz et 3’07 sur Andrea Bagioli. Cette 3e étape sera une journée de gestion pour lui et son équipe.

UAE Team Emirates XRG ne devrait pas contrôler la course pour un sprint. L’équipe émiratie laissera probablement filer une échappée, ou laissera les équipes de sprinteurs prendre leurs responsabilités.

Samedi, le contre-la-montre individuel d’Aarburg (23,7 km) sera un test pour Pogacar. Dimanche, l’étape reine de Villars-sur-Ollon (4 200 m D+) conclura ce Tour de Suisse.
