Au terme des 143,2 kilomètres que les coureurs avaient à parcourir entre Emmen et Hoogeveen le coureur âgé de 19 ans a signé son tout premier succès professionnel. Tobias Lund Andresen (Team DSM) et Adam de Vos (Human Powered Health) ont pris les 2e et 3e places.
Per Strand Hagenes a été, dans les rangs juniors, champion du monde sur route, en 2019.
