CLASSEMENT. Tadej Pogacar (22 ans) a conservé son maillot jaune à l’issue de la 11e étape du Tour de France 2021. Lors de la double ascension du Mont Ventoux, le Slovène n’a pas été aussi étincelant que lors de la première semaine de course. Un temps distancé par Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma), tout a fini par rentrer dans l’ordre dans la descente vers Malaucène. Seul Ben O’Connor (AG2R Citroën) a perdu sa 2e place. Désormais, le maillot jaune de l’équipe UAE Team Emirates compte 5:18 d’avance sur son dauphine Rigoberto Uran (EF Education-Nippo).

Il est impossible de résumer les évolutions du classement général et un rapide survol du classement pourrait en effet observer qu’ O’Connor rétrograde à la cinquième place…
Le vent souffle parfois fort sur ce Ventoux, mais que les supporters français n’en perdent pas pour autant leur casquette, le meilleur français jusque là, l’unique espoir de bonne place voire de podium à Paris, David Gaudu, jusque -là à 7min 22s de Pogacar, quitte le top 10 et se retrouve 13é à une demi-heure… Par contre G. Martin est désormais 9é. Le normand a d’ailleurs effectué la plongée vers Malaucène en compagnie d u 10é, P.Bilbao … Cattaneo 11é, n’est pas trés loin, mais Martin et Bilbao ont 15 min d’avance sur le 12é avant d’entrer dans les Pyrénées, de quoi espérer rester dans le top 10, voire remonter encore ! Quant à gagner une étape, ce sera bien compliqué pour eux, car tous se courent déjà après pour défendre leurs places !
