Dimanche, au terme des 181,3 kilomètres de la 1ère étape du Tour de Grande-Bretagne, les échappés ont échoué de peu, repris à deux kilomètres de l’arrivée de Glenshee. Et la victoire est revenue aux hommes forts du peloton. Et c’est le Néo-Zélandais Corbin Strong (Israel – Premier Tech), contre toute attente, qui l’a emporté au sprint. Le tout jeune coureur, âgé de 22 ans, a signé son premier succès professionnel devant l’Espagnol Omar Fraile (INEOS Grenadiers). Logiquement, Strong a endossé le premier maillot de leader.
