Et au terme des 203,2 kilomètres qu’il y avait à parcourir entre Hoogled et Roeselare, c’est le tout jeune Arnaud De Lie qui l’a emporté au sprint . A 19 ans, De Lie succède au palmarès à Tim Merlier (Alpecin-Fenix) et signe déjà son second succès de la saison, après sa première victoire glanée sur le Trofeo Palma.

Les sprinteurs présents avaient suffisamment d’équipiers et ce grand prix Jean Pierre Monseré avait de fortes chances de se terminer par un sprint.. La victoire revient au sprinteur qui a su le mieux attendre, parfaitement à l’abri derrière les grands gabarits de la Lotto…
De Bondt second et Hofstetter troisième inversent leurs troisième et seconde place du prix Samyn… Sans doute très confiant en ses moyens, De Bondt ne ménage pas sa peine, passe en tête, attaque ou étire le groupe à plusieurs reprises… Quant à Hofstetter, le voici qui sombre du côté vers lequel il peut parfois pencher : 3é à Kuurne et 2d du Samyn, l’alsacien se dit qu’il va finir d’écrémer la troupe et le voici qui joue les De Bondt et passe de nombreux relais à ses équipiers d’Arkéa .. Le risque fut bien sûr d’y laisser quelques plumes, à peu près la longueur lui manquant sur la ligne… Certains peuvent parfois tout faire, la cuisine, le ménage, passer la serpillère, etc…,Dans le vélo il y a parfois des exceptions, des Van Aert, Van der Poel ou le Trentin du dernier Samyn, mais c’est assez rare…
