Ce mercredi, les coureurs du Tour de l’Algarve (2.Pro) avaient à parcourir quelques 199,1 kilomètres entre Portimao et Lagos. Compte tenu du profil de l’étape du jour qui n’a pas réussi à mettre les sprinteurs en difficulté, c’est tout logiquement que la victoire s’est jouée au sprint. Et tandis que les échappés se sont faits rattraper dans le final, le sprint massif est revenu à Fabio Jakobsen (QuickStep Alpha Vinyl). Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) a pris la 2e place. En toute logique, Fabio Jakobsen, qui a signé son troisième succès de la saison, a endossé le maillot de leader.
