Au terme des trois semaines de course, c’est lors de la 21e et dernière étape du Giro 2020 que le vainqueur de la 103e édition du Tour d’Italie a été connu. Le Britannique Tao Geoghegan Hart (INEOS) remporte le Giro 2020 à 25 ans tandis que l’Australien Jai Hindley (Sunweb) et son coéquipier néerlandais Wilco Kelderman terminent second et troisième du classement général final. La dernière étape, courue sous forme d’un contre-la-montre individuel à Milan a été remportée par le champion du monde de la discipline, Philippo Ganna (INEOS). Premier Français, Aurélien Paret-Peintre (Ag2r La Mondiale) termine 16e le Giro 2020.

Il est intéressant de revenir en arrière dans le déroulement de ce giro, en particulier voir les arrivées de la quatrième étape qui arrivait au sommet de l’Etna… . Je pensais alors que le top 10 final de ce giro se trouvait dans le 20 de l’étape, lequel comprenait les trois échappés du départ dont le vainqueur Caicedo…
En fait, ils sont 9 et non du 10 du général final à figurer dans le top 20 à l’Etna… Mais qui manquait-il ?… Keldermann est 4é à 39s, son équipier Hindley, in extremis dans le top 20, est 19é à 1min 37s, etc…. Le seul manquant dans ce top 20 est le vainqueur final du giro, Goeghegan Hart !… Il est 24é à 2min 33s !…
Je vous passe les autres classements au sommet, excepté cependant R. Dennis, l’Hercule de la montagne, dont le cas me passionne : L’australien arrive à 19min 47s… plus de 7 minutes aprés l’ Ineos au bassin fracturé, l’irlandais G. Thomas …
